Too cool for sustainable school
Frog Design’s Modular, LEED certified school:
Frog is a company headquartered in San Francisco doing innovative things with modular construction.
No, scratch that. Project Frog is reinventing school construction.
The firm is changing the nature of what we build, and how we build.
Most of the company’s environmentally friendly designs are pre-set for LEED certification– it’s simply a matter of planning as to what level of LEED is sought.
A standard Frog building has an overall environmental impact 1/10th as great as a standard building, and generates 1/12th the greenhouse gas.
Project Frog currently designs for schools, as well as healthcare, retail and office facilities.
The company’s designs are based on “proprietary products integrated with best-in-class components” from its partners- which, when integrated during final construction, become healthy, bright and inspiring places which are environmentally responsible.
They are also quite energy efficient, and are able to be built more quickly, at a lower cost.
Not only are Frog’s modular designs energy efficient, but they are also designed for very low VOC out- gassing, and designed to optimize natural day-lighting. In some instances their designs become net-zero when paired with an advanced, super-insulated pre-fabricated wall panel system.
